How the pens are made

First, select a piece of lumber (or acrylic) and cut it to about 3/4 inches square by 5 inches long. This is Red Morrel which is an Australian wood.
The pen body (blank)
Next, mark is and cut to match the size needed for the pen barrels. This pen has an upper and lower barrel section so both halves of the pen blank are needed. The line drawn the length is so the upper and lower barrel can be 'married' together during assembly.

Next drill a hole for the brass tubes. These tubes are inserted to insure a good fit for pen parts.
Setup to drill
The pen barrel is about 2 - 3 inches long, and needs to be drilled parallel to the length of the wood.
Drill holes for brass inserts
Here are all the parts of the pen. This particular pen uses a Parker style refill.
The kit with pen blank
Next is to glue the brass tubes into the drilled pen blanks. The blanks are a little longer than the tubes, so the tubes will be glued completely in the blank. The excess is trimmed off after the glue dries. The glue is a fast setting glue, but is left for a few hours to fully cure.
